What Is Canditral 200mg Capsule?

This contains a medicine itraconazole. This belongs to a group of medicines called ‘antifungals’. This is used for infections caused by fungi or yeasts. It is used for: Nail infections Skin infections of the hands or feet Patches of skin may take a few weeks to completely clear up after you have finished your treatment with Canditral 200mg Capsule.

This is because your skin will only look normal after new skin has grown, even though the medicine has killed the fungus that caused the infection.

How Does Canditral 200mg Capsule Work?

This is an antifungal. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol which is an important component of fungi cell membrane by inhibiting cytochrome P450-dependent 14α-demethylase enzyme, thus helps in inhibiting the growth of the organism.

What Is Route Of Administration?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. This is to be taken with food.

If you are taking oral solution, it should be taken one hour before any food or drink.

Do

Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

Take it with food, preferably at the same time every day.

Use a reliable method of contraception to prevent pregnancy while taking this medicine.

Do not take indigestion remedies (antacids) within 2 hours of taking Canditral 200mg Capsule.

Your doctor may check your liver function before starting treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain.

Inform your doctor if you develop allergic reactions, nerve pain, or hearing loss.

Pregnancy = Canditral 200mg is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Consult your doctor about the potential benefits and risks before deciding to take this medicine.

Breast-feeding = Canditral 200mg is not recommended for use during breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. Consult your doctor about the potential benefits and risks before deciding to take this medicine.

Liver injury = This may increase the liver enzyme levels and can cause hepatitis and jaundice. Close monitoring of liver function tests is necessary at the time of initiation of the treatment. Discontinue the medicine if symptoms worsen.

Hearing loss = This may cause transient or permanent hearing loss when taken with quinidine. Close monitoring of any symptoms of any hearing problem is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if symptoms persist.

Cystic Fibrosis = This should be used with caution in the patients with cystic fibrosis. Switch to alternate treatment if this medicine is not responding.

Absorption = Absorption of this is higher in acidic conditions. Do not take any medicines that can alter gastric acid content.

Neuropathy = This may cause weakness, numbness, and pain in hands and feet. Discontinue the treatment if these symptoms appear.

Storage Of Canditral 200mg Capsule

Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Store the capsules in their carton Keep the carton in a dry place out of strong sunlight Do not store above 30oC Do not use Canditral 200mg Capsule after the expiry date which is stated on the label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.
