Hepcvir 400mg How To Work
Hepcvir 400mg Tablet is an antiviral medication. It works by lowering a load of hepatitis C virus in the body and removing the virus from the blood over a period of time.
What Is Hepcvir 400mg
Hepcvir 400Mg Tablet is used in combination with other medications such as ribavirin, daclatasvir and peginterferon to treat chronic hepatitis C. It functions by reducing the hepatitis C virus in the body. This helps to keep liver disorders such as cirrhosis and liver cancer at bay.
On using this medication you may experience side effects such as diarrhoea, itchiness, headache, nausea, drowsiness, rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat and skin paleness. If your reactions persist, seek the help of your health care provider right away.
Before using this medication you should tell your doctor if: you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Hepcvir 400Mg Tablet, you have any other allergies, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you have liver/kidney disorders, you are below 18 years of age, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.
Hepcvir 400mg How To Take
You should take your Hepcvir tablets 400mg swallowed whole with a glass of water once daily with or without food at the same time each day and in combination with the other antiviral drug prescribed. You should continue to take your Hepcvir tablets 400mg for as long as recommended by your doctor, which is usually 12-24 weeks, depending on HCV genotype causing the infection and the amount of liver damage.
Mechanism Action Of Hepcvir 400mg
Hepcvir tablets 400mg contain sofosbuvir, a direct-acting antiviral agent that is used in combination with other antiviral medications to treat chronic HCV infection. Sofosbuvir in Hepcvir tablets 400mg is a direct-acting nucleotide analogue inhibitor that blocks the action of the HCV NS5B polymerase, an enzyme that is essential to viral replication.
It is a nucleotide prodrug that is converted to its active form, the uridine analog triphosphate (GS-461203), which is incorporated into HCV RNA by the action of NS5B polymerase. This action of sofosbuvir in Hepcvir L tablets causes chain termination of viral RNA synthesis thereby inhibiting viral replication. Sofosbuvir in Hepcvir tablets is an effective treatment for HCV infection only when used in combination with at least one other antiviral medication.
These include interferon, which is a chemical messenger produced by host cells in response to infection by various pathogens, including viruses that stimulates the body’s own immune response, as well as directly inhibiting viral replication in infected cells. Ribavirin is a synthetic ribonucleic analogue and is incorporated into viral RNA blocking RNA synthesis; however, it does not have any antiviral activity when used alone.
The specific combination therapy regimen for HCV infection depends on the HCV genotype and the degree of liver damage due to the infection. The combination of Hepcvir tablets 400 mg and ribavirin or ribavirin with interferon lowers the amount of hepatitis C virus in the blood and may also lead to a cure of HCV infection over a number of weeks.
