What Is Ifin 500mg?
Sold under the brand name Lamisil, it is used in the treatment of various fungal disorders and has been proven to be effective against fungal infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, pityriasis versicolor and ringworms. It is either taken orally or is applied to the skin as a cream or an ointment.
It basically is an anti-fungus agent, but the cream and ointment also help relieve the itching, burning and cracking and scaling from the infections caused by the fungus. If it’s being used as a cream or as an ointment, it has to be applied on dry and clear skin.
Do not apply the cream/ointment on the eyes, nose, and mouth or inside intimate areas. Use once daily, preferably at the same time. Avoid applying it on nails and scalps unless suggested by the doctor. Apply until the symptoms are reduced and for a few more days so that the infection does not resurface.
This medication does not pose any serious side effect, however, it is still advised to use it in moderation. Serious drug allergies are rare.

Drug To Drug Interaction
Caffeine = There may be an interaction of Ifin 500mg with caffeine, which is used to treat headache. When Ifin 500mg is used with caffeine, it may decrease the clearance of caffeine.
Ciclosporin = Ifin 500mg Tablet interacts with ciclosporin, which is used to prevent organ rejection. When Ifin 500mg is used with ciclosporin, it may increase the clearance of ciclosporin.
Warfarin = Special instructions need to be followed while taking this medicine along with warfarin, which is used to reduce the risk of heart attack. When Ifin 500mg is used with warfarin, it may either increase or decrease the blood clotting time.
Cimetidine = Ifin 500mg Tablet may interact with cimetidine, which is used to treat ulcer. When Ifin 500mg is used with cimetidine, it may decrease the clearance of the Ifin 500mg. Dose adjustments of Ifin 500mg should be considered when using both medicines together.
Antifungals = There may be an interaction of Ifin 500mg with antifungals (fluconazole and ketoconazole), which is used to treat fungal infection. When Ifin 500mg is used with fluconazole or ketoconazole, it may increase the levels of Ifin 500mg.

Do
Ifin 500mg Tablet helps treat fungal infections of the skin and nails.
Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
Treatment may be needed for 2 to 6 weeks for skin infections and 6 weeks to 6 months for nail infections.
It can make your skin more sensitive to sun. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors.
Your doctor may monitor your liver function regularly during treatment. Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
Don’t
Pregnancy = Ifin 500mg should be used by pregnant women only when the benefits outweigh the risk. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Breast-feeding = Ifin 500mg should not be used by breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. Care should be taken while using this medicine to ensure that ingestion and direct contact with the medicine by the infant are avoided.
Liver function = Ifin 500mg should not be used if the patient has a chronic or active disease of the liver. It is advised to monitor the liver function on a periodic basis while taking this medicine. Any sign or symptom indicative of a deteriorating liver function should be reported to the doctor on priority.
Allergic skin reaction = Ifin 500mg can cause severe allergic reactions of the skin and hence caution is advised while use. Any sign of an allergic skin reaction after taking this medicine should be reported to the doctor immediately.
Blood cell count = Ifin 500mg is known to lower the count of certain specific blood cells. It should be used with caution in patients who have a decreased blood cell count.

Storage Of Ifin 500mg
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use Ciprofloxacin after the expiry date, which is stated on the blister and carton after “EXP”: The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
