Persol Gel 2.5% containing the active ingredient benzyl peroxide is considered a keratolytic type of medication. The gel works by killing bacteria and reducing inflammation which will allow the top layer of the skin to break down and shed. This will help break down blackheads and whiteheads as well as unplugging blocked pores and is mainly used in the treatment of acne.

Be careful when applying Persol Gel 2.5% to large areas since it can bleach hair, clothing, and furnishings upon contact.

This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid exposure to sunlight, sunlamp or ultraviolet light when using Persol Gel 2.5%.

Skin peeling: This medicine may cause skin irritation initially when applied and characterized by peeling of the skin. This effect is not harmful and will be subsided within in 1 or 2 days when the treatment is stopped.
For external use: This medicine is for external use only. Applied on the affected skin as recommended. Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth. Exposure to the sunlight should be avoided and use sunscreen lotion as required.
Skin irritation: This medicine may increase the skin irritation, therefore, should not be used in patients with dry skin and skin irritation.
