Silofast 4mg Description
Silofast 4Mg Capsule falls under a category of drugs known as alpha blockers. This medication is used to treat enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). It functions by relaxing the prostate and bladder muscles allowing greater urine flow. Silofast 4Mg Capsule is primarily used by men. It reduces signs and symptoms of BPH.
What is it prescribed for?
Benign prostatic hyperplasia
This medicine is used the in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (prostate enlargement), a condition characterized by symptoms such as a weak urinary stream, difficulty urinating, loss of bladder control, etc.
How does medicine works?
Silofast 4Mg Capsule works as an antagonist of the alpha-1 adrenoreceptor selective for the prostrate. It binds to and blocks these receptors which lowers intraurethral pressure, relaxes smooth muscles and improves urine flow.
How to take
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Silofast 4 Capsule is to be taken with food.
Avoid Silofast 4 Capsule with high-fat meals such as olive oil, nuts & seeds (Brazil nuts), dark chocolate, butter and meat.

Preacaution
Silofast 4 Capsule helps in relieving the symptoms of enlarged prostate. It does not decrease the size of the prostate.
Silofast 4 Capsule must be taken with food.
You will feel better within hours or days of starting the treatment. Full effect is usually seen within 2 weeks.
Silofast 4 Capsule may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
If you are scheduled to undergo an eye surgery due to cataract or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Silofast 4 Capsule.
Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.
Warnings
Elderly patients – This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly patients due to the increased risk of a very low blood pressure. Regular monitoring of blood pressure levels is necessary for these patients. Report any unusual symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, etc. to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Cataract surgery – Use of this medicine increases the risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome. Patients undergoing cataract surgery should inform the surgeon about the current or previous use of this medicine, so that the surgeon can make appropriate changes in the surgical technique to reduce the risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome.
Driving or Operating machinery – Use of this medicine may cause symptoms such as blurred vision, dizziness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.
Storage
You should store your Silofast 4 below 25°C in a cool dry place.
