Suminat 50mg Tablet is a synthetic medication belonging to the the triptan class of drugs. It is used for treating cluster headaches and migraine. It works by narrowing the blood vessels in the brain which relieves headaches. Do not have this medicine if you are allergic to it, if you have a history of heart problems, a blood vessel disease, high blood pressure or liver problems.
How Does Suminat 50mg Work?
Migraine headaches are thought to result from the dilatation (swelling) of blood vessels in the head. Suminat 50mg Tablet works by constricting (narrowing) the blood vessels in the head, stops transmission of pain signals to the brain, and blocks the release of chemicals that cause nausea and other migraine symptoms. This relieves the migraine attack.
What Is Route Of Administration?
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Suminat 50mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Do not stop using the medication abruptly unless instructed by the doctor. Stopping the medication suddenly may cause the illness to return.
Do not exceed the dose more than what is prescribed.
Be cautious while taking Sumatriptan Succinate if you have any kidney or liver impairment.
Avoid alcohol while taking Sumatriptan Succinate as it may decrease the absorption of the drug.
You are advised not to take Sumatriptan Succinate if it has passed the expiry date of the medicine printed on the pack.

Suminat 50mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
It is also suggested that withholding breastfeeding for 8 hours after using Suminat 50mg Tablet would be better.
Suminat 50mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, drowsy or affect your vision. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
Suminat 50mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Suminat 50mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Suminat 50mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
