Description
Susten 100 MG Injection is obtained from plant sources and has a similar action to the female hormone, progesterone. It is used to correct menstrual disorders caused due to a deficiency of this hormone in the body. It is also used as a component in hormone replacement therapy and for maintenance of early pregnancy under specific circumstances.
Susten 100 MG Injection is a medication that is used in hormone replacement therapy. This means that it is orally administered into women’s bodies when they do not produce enough progesterone. It reduces menopause symptoms and the risk of cancer of the uterus. It corrects menstrual disorders in women and can also be used as contraception. Susten 100 MG Injection, belonging to a group of medications called Progestins, works by inducing some changes in endometrium and decreasing the level of estrogen in the uterus.
Uses of Susten 100 MG Injection
Post menopausal hormonal replacement therapy
This medicine is used along with estrogen in women who have achieved menopause, but haven’t undergone a surgery to remove the uterus (hysterectomy).
Amenorrhoea
This medicine is used to treat absence of menstruation in women of childbearing potential due to a lack of progesterone in their body.
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
This medicine is also used to treat abnormal bleeding from the vagina due to changes in hormone levels but are not caused by a pregnancy or miscarriage.
How To Take Susten 100mg?
The dosage and the drug form depend on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Use Progesterone as prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the whole tablet/capsule. Do not crush or chew the tablet/capsule. Take the drug with food. Taking the drug with food prevents stomach upset.
Apply a thin layer of Progesterone gel over the affected area and ensure the area is clean and dry before application.
General Instructions
Take Susten 100 MG Injection as prescribed by the doctor. Follow all dosing instruction mentioned on the label. It is advised to take this medicine at bedtime with sufficient quantity of water. Do not take this medicine for durations shorter or longer than recommended by your doctor. You are advised to regularly examine your breasts for the presence of lumps while using this medicine.

Warnings
Pregnancy
This medicine is recommended for use in pregnancy only if the need is clinically established. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Breast-feeding
Use of this medicine is not recommended if you are breastfeeding. This medicine can pass into the breast milk and may harm the nursing infant.
Dizziness
Use of this medicine can cause dizziness and impair the ability to perform tasks requiring cognition and alertness. Caution is advised while driving or performing other tasks that demand a high level of mental alertness. You are advised to take the medicine at recommended times to avoid any such effect.
Breast cancer
Use of this medicine in conjugation with estradiol for hormone replacement therapy has been associated with instances of breast cancer and hence caution is advised. This medicine should be given with extreme caution to patients with a previous or active case of breast cancer.
Storage of Susten 100mg/1ml
This medication is given in a clinic and will not be stored at home.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. – Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
