Description
Susten 400 MG Capsule is obtained from plant sources and has a similar action to the female hormone, progesterone. It is used to correct menstrual disorders caused due to a deficiency of this hormone in the body. It is also used as a component in hormone replacement therapy and for maintenance of early pregnancy under specific circumstances.
Susten 400 MG Capsule is a medication that is used in hormone replacement therapy. This means that it is orally administered into women’s bodies when they do not produce enough progesterone. It reduces menopause symptoms and the risk of cancer of the uterus. It corrects menstrual disorders in women and can also be used as contraception. Susten 400 MG Capsule, belonging to a group of medications called Progestins, works by inducing some changes in endometrium and decreasing the level of estrogen in the uterus.
How does medicine works?
Susten 400 MG Capsule belongs to a class known as progestins and makes up for the lack of naturally produced progesterone in women of childbearing age. It also decreases the amount of estrogen produced in the uterus.

General Instructions
Take Susten 400 MG Tablet SR as prescribed by the doctor. Follow all dosing instruction mentioned on the label. It is advised to take this medicine at bedtime with sufficient quantity of water. Do not take this medicine for durations shorter or longer than recommended by your doctor. You are advised to regularly examine your breasts for the presence of lumps while using this medicine.

Warnings
Fluid retention – Use of this medicine is known to cause mild to moderate amounts of fluid retention in the body. Hence, caution is advised while administering in patients with diseases like epilepsy, asthma, migraine, heart and blood vessel disorders, kidney impairment etc.
Depression – Use of this medicine is known to cause a varying amount of depression in different individuals. It should be carefully prescribed in patients having a history of depression. Use of this medicine should be discontinued if the depressive episode becomes more frequent and severe.
Metabolic disorders – Use of this medicine is known to interfere with the fat and sugar metabolism in the body. it should be prescribed with caution in patients suffering from metabolic disorders like diabetes, high cholesterol etc.
Vision abnormalities – Use of this medicine can cause blurring of vision and other effects on the eye like proptosis, diplopia etc. Patients should be carefully examined to confirm if they can safely use this medicine. Any side effects like blurred vision, excessive drying of eyes should be reported to the doctor.
Pracaution
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of blood vessel problems, bleeding problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sugar, kidney disease, asthma, headache, seizures, depression, mental illness, cancer, smoking, blood clots, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or lightheadedness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
It may affect blood sugar level, monitor sugar level regularly while taking this medication. It should not be used in children.
Storage
Store it at room temperature (25-30°C). Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. – Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
