Tretiva 5 mg Capsule is a naturally occurring derivative of vitamin A and is used for the treatment of severe acne (nodular) non-responsive to other therapies.
What is Tretiva 10mg ?
Tretiva 5 mg Capsule belongs to a category of chemical compounds called retinoid. This medication helps in the treatment of cystic acne or nodular acne that has previously not responded to any other kinds of treatment. It lowers the production of facial oil and prevents hardening of the skin. If acne is not properly treated it can cause permanent scarring.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tretiva 5 Capsule is to be taken with food.

Disease interactions
Increased pressure around the brain
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients having an increased pressure around the brain due to a disease or trauma. Your doctor may determine the best course of treatment in such cases.
Psychiatric disorders
Use of this medicine may worsen the symptoms of psychiatric disorders. It should be used with caution by patients suffering from mood changes, anxiety, agitation, depression etc.
Osteoporosis
Use of this medicine may cause a reduction in bone density and hence should be used with caution in patients suffering from osteoporosis or other disorders affecting bone density.
Dosage
Missed Dose
Skip the missed dose and continue with the regularly scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Symptoms of overdose may include a headache, dizziness, vomiting, stomach pain, tingling and stinging sensation of the skin etc.
Tretiva Capsule Related Warnings
Alcohol :- Taking isotretinoin with alcohol may have unpleasant side effects such as fast heartbeats, warmth or redness under your skin, tingly feeling, nausea, and vomiting.
Pregnancy:-Tretiva 5 Capsule is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation:- Tretiva 5 Capsule is unsafe to use during lactation. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby, or the mother is suffering from a condition in which breastfeeding is not advisable.
Driving :- Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Your night vision may get worse during your treatment. This can happen suddenly. Drowsiness and dizziness have been reported very rarely. This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney:- Tretiva 5 Capsule is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Tretiva 5 Capsule may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
If you experience excessive tiredness, puffy eyes and difficulty in urination while taking this medicine, inform your doctor and stop the therapy.
Liver:- Tretiva 5 Capsule is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.
Storage of Tretiva 5mg
Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
