Alphalan 5mg Tablet is an anti-cancer medication. It works by damaging the genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells. This stops their growth and multiplication.

What Is Alphalan 5mg

Melphalan is one of a group of drugs called alkylating agents. It sticks to one of the cancer cell’s DNA strands. DNA is the genetic code that is in the nucleus of all animal and plant cells. It controls everything the cell does. The cell cannot then grow and divide into 2 new cells.

How To Take

The dosage and the drug form depend on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take Alphalan 5mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.

Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Take the drug on an empty stomach.

If you miss a dose of Alphalan 5mg Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Melphalan, A Mechlorethamine Derivative, Is An Alkylating Antineoplastic Agent. It Forms Carbonium Ions, Resulting In DNA And RNA Synthesis Inhibition. It Cross-Links DNA Strands And Acts On Both Resting And Rapidly Dividing Tumour Cells. Absorption: Variable Absorption From The GI Tract; Absorption Reduced By Food (Oral). Distribution: Rapid Throughout Body Water. Protein-Binding: 50-60%, Mainly To Albumin. Metabolism: Inactivated By Hydrolysis. Excretion: Via Urine (10%, As Unchanged Drug); 30-150 Min (Terminal Half-Life).
