What Is Falcigo 60mg Injection?

A derivative of artemisinin is a water-soluble hemisuccinate. It is very effective in the treatment of severe malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum strains when other medicines fail to show positive results. However, it cannot be used to prevent malaria. This can be given by injection into a vein or a muscle, or taken by mouth.

How Does Falcigo 60mg Injection Work?

This is an antiparasitic medication. It works by producing harmful chemicals (free radicals) within the malarial parasite, thereby killing it.

What Is Route Of Administration?

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self-administer.

Drug To Drug Interaction

Mefloquine = Report the use of mefloquine or any other anti-malarial medicine to the doctor before receiving Injection. You may require a dose adjustment and more frequent monitoring when using these medicines together.

Pyrimethamine = Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may require a dose adjustment and more frequent monitoring while using these medicines together.

Do

Do not start or continue the Injection and consult your doctor If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Injection.

Do not start or continue the Injection and consult your doctor you are in first 3 months of pregnancy or If you are breast feeding.

Do not drive or operate machinery after taking Injection because you may feel sleepy.

Don’t

Pregnancy = Use of Falcigo 60mg in pregnant women is not recommended unless absolutely necessary. The effect of this medicine on pregnancy is not clearly established and hence should be used only in life-threatening situations.

Breast-feeding = Use of Falcigo 60mg while breastfeeding is not recommended unless necessary. Your doctor will determine whether or not to use this medicine.

Severe malaria = This should be used to treat malaria only when it is severe and other medicines like quinine are proving to be ineffective.

Liver/kidney impairment = This should be used with caution in patients having an impaired liver/kidney function. If the impairment is very severe then the use of this medicine should be avoided.

Uses Of Falcigo 60mg Injection

This is used in the treatment of malaria. It is not used to prevent malaria or to treat severe malaria (where it has affected the brain, lungs or kidneys).
