How To Work
Idrofos 3mg Injection is a bisphosphonate. It works by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone. This strengthens the bones and minimizes the risk of fractures.
What Is Idrofos 3mg Injection
Idrofos 3mg Injection is used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Osteoporosis makes the bones weaker and thinner and increases the risk of fractures. This medication may cause a decrease in the blood calcium levels, hence it is not recommended for use in patients with low calcium levels.

Mechanism Action Of Idrofos 3mg Injection
Ibandronic Acid Is A Potent Bone Resorption Inhibitor, Which Acts On Osteoclasts Or On Osteoclast Precursors. It Increases Bone Mineral Density By Reducing The Rate Of Bone Resorption. Absorption: Poorly Absorbed Orally. Absolute Bioavailability: <1%. Distribution: Protein-Binding: 85-99%. Excretion: Via Urine. Unabsorbed Drug Via Faeces.
Drug Interactions
Impaired Absorption With Aluminium, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium Compounds. Increased Risk Of GI Or Renal Adverse Effects With NSAIDs. Additive Hypocalcaemic Effects With Aminoglycosides.

Warning

Breast-feeding – This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. Precaution
You have been prescribed Idrofos 3 mg Injection for the treatment of osteoporosis.
It lowers your risk of fractures by making your bones stronger and less likely to break.
It may cause the amount of calcium in your blood to fall. Take calcium rich food in your diet and have regular blood tests to monitor the level of calcium in your blood.
It’s important to look after your mouth and teeth as much as possible while you’re taking. Have regular dental check-ups and inform your dentist about taking Idrofos 3 mg Injection.
Side effects like constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache can be experienced with its use. This may not be with everyone. Drink plenty of fluids and eat a high fibre diet.
Any of the side effects other than mentioned above if occur, do consult the treating physician.
