How To Work

Lenalid 5mg Capsule modulates the activity of body’s immune system and helps indirectly attacking the cancer cells. It also stops the growth of blood vessels in cancer.

What Is Lenalid 5mg

Lenalidomide is classified as an “immunomodulatory agent” and an “antiangiogenic agent”. It affects all sorts of cell processes, including how cells divide and grow. It interferes with chemicals that cells use to signal to each other to grow. It affects how the immune system works and is called an immunomodulatory agent. It also stops tumours making their own blood vessels. To develop, all cancers need a blood supply.

Lenlaid (Lenalidomide) tablet treats anemia and multiple myeloma (cancer resulting from a progressive blood disease). It is used in patients with myelodysplastic syndrome caused by an abnormal chromosome. This disorder is also called deletion 5q MDS, because part of chromosome 5 is missing.

How To Take

Lenalid is usually taken in a 28 day cycle, taking the medication once daily or as directed by a doctor. The capsules can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patients condition and their reaction to the medication. The capsules should be taken whole and not broken, crushed, chewed or opened.

Leflunomide Is An Immunomodulating Agent And DMARD. It Inhibits Pyrimidine Synthesis By Inhibiting Dihydroorotate Dehydrogenase Enzyme Activity Resulting In Antiproliferative And Anti-Inflammatory Effects. Absorption: Bioavailability: Approx 82-95%. Time To Peak Plasma Concentration (Active Metabolite): 6-12 Hr. Distribution: Volume Of Distribution: 0.13 L/Kg. Plasma Protein Binding (Active Metabolite): 99% (Mainly Albumin). Metabolism: Rapidly Converted To Active Metabolite A77 1726 In GI Mucosa And The Liver. Excretion: Via Urine (Approx 43% As Glucuronides) And Faeces (Approx 48%). Elimination Half-Life (Active Metabolite): Approx 14-18 Days.

Drug Interactions

Cholestyramine And Activated Charcoal May Decrease Plasma Concentration Of Active Metabolite. Concurrent Use Of Methotrexate And Other Hepatotoxic Drugs May Increase The Risk Of Hepatotoxicity. Rifampicin Increases Serum Levels Of The Active Metabolite. Potentially Fatal: May Enhance The Adverse Effects Of Live Vaccines.

Hepatic Impairment, Moderate And Severe Renal Impairment, Compromised Immune Function Including Bone Marrow Dysplasia Or Severe Uncontrolled Infection, Severe Hypoproteinaemia; Concurrent Vaccination W/ Live Vaccines. Pregnancy And Lactation.

Side Effects

Lenalid may cause unwanted side effects such as:

Warning
