Silofast 8mg Description

Silofast 8mg Capsule is an antiadrenergic agent used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (prostate enlargement). This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from severe kidney function or liver function impairment.

What is it prescribed for?

Benign prostatic hyperplasia

This medicine is used the in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (prostate enlargement), a condition characterized by symptoms such as a weak urinary stream, difficulty urinating, loss of bladder control, etc.

How to take

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Silofast 8mg Capsule is to be taken with food.
Avoid Silofast 8mg Capsule with high-fat meals such as olive oil, nuts & seeds (Brazil nuts), dark chocolate, butter and meat.

How silofast capsule works

Silofast 8mg Capsule is an alpha blocker. It works by relaxing muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily.

• Headache
• Diarrhea
• Nasal congestion

General Instructions

Take this medicine with food. Do not take in larger amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Warnings

Hepatic impairment – This medicine should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver function impairment due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Close monitoring of liver function tests, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Elderly patients – This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly patients due to the increased risk of a very low blood pressure. Regular monitoring of blood pressure levels is necessary for these patients. Report any unusual symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, etc. to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Precaution

Silofast 8mg Capsule helps in relieving the symptoms of enlarged prostate. It does not decrease the size of the prostate.

Silofast 8mg Capsule must be taken with food.

You will feel better within hours or days of starting the treatment. Full effect is usually seen within 2 weeks.

Silofast 8mg Capsule may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.

If you are scheduled to undergo an eye surgery due to cataract or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Silofast 8mg Capsule.

Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.

Store it in a tightly closed container at room temperature (25°C). Protect from excess heat and moisture, Keep out of reach of children.
