What Is Syndopa Plus?

This Tablet is an amino acid that is produced and used as a part of the normal biology of human beings, also in some animals and plants. This Tablet crosses the protective blood–brain barrier as dopamine cannot. Thus, Syndopa Plus Tablet is used to increase the dopamine concentrations in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and dopamine-responsive dystonia.

How Does Syndopa Plus Work?

This Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Levodopa and Carbidopa which treats Parkinsonism. Levodopa is a dopamine precursor which gets converted to dopamine, a chemical messenger that controls movement in the brain. Carbidopa is a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor which prevents breakdown of levodopa allowing it to enter the brain and increase dopamine levels.

What Is Route Of Administration?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. This Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Avoid Syndopa Plus Tablet with high protein meals such as cottage cheese, Swiss cheese, protein powder, eggs and milk.

Do

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to carbidopa or levodopa; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease, glaucoma, breathing problems (such as asthma), heart disease (such as heart attack, irregular heartbeat), kidney disease, stomach/intestinal ulcer, mental/mood disorders (such as depression, schizophrenia), blood disorders, seizures, sleep disorders.

This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy. Alcohol or marijuana (cannabis) can make you more dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana (cannabis).

Alcohol = This Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.

Pregnancy = This Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation = This Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Partial to complete suppression of lactation was seen in mothers on the treatment with Tablet, but when the treatment was stopped, lactation returned to normal levels.

Driving = Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

As Syndopa Plus Tablet may cause dizziness, drowsiness, double vision, which may affect your ability to react which may affect your ability to drive.

Kidney = This Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Syndopa Plus Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver = This Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Syndopa Plus Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
