What Is Alzil 5mg?

This Tablet, a cholinesterase inhibitor, is used to treat a brain disorder that affects the ability to remember, communicate, think clearly, and perform daily activities and may cause changes in mood and personality in people who have Alzheimer’s disease. It improves mental function by increasing the amount of certain chemicals in the brain. However, it does not cure Alzheimer’s disease completely.

How Does Alzil 5mg Work?

Memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease occurs due to disturbances of signal transmission in the brain. This Tablet is a cholinesterase inhibitor. It works by increasing the levels of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) involved in transmmission of nerve signals. This improves memory and thinking.

What Is Route Of Administration?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. This Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Drug To Drug Interaction

Carvedilol = This may lower the heart rate and blood pressure if taken together. Inform the doctor if you are receiving antihypertensives like carvedilol, metoprolol, and nifedipine. Any symptoms of dizziness, irregular heartbeat should be informed to the doctor. Dose adjustment or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.

Oxcarbazepine = Inform the doctor if you are receiving oxcarbazepine, carbamazepine as these medicines will decrease the effect of Tablet. Any symptoms of worsening of the condition should be reported to the doctor. Dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.

Tramadol = This may increase the risk of seizures if taken together. The risk is more in the elderly population with the history of head injury or seizures. Any symptoms of seizures should be informed to the doctor. The dose of either of the medicines should be adjusted based on the clinical condition.

Are allergic to memantine hydrochloride or Donepezil any of the other ingredients of this medicine

Have any heart problems including irregular, slow or fast heartbeats

Have asthma or lung problems

Have a seizure or a history of epileptic seizures

Are suffering from stomach ulcers

Have difficulty in passing urine

Have liver or kidney problems

Have recently experienced a myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension

Are suffering from renal impairment

This is not recommended if you are pregnant or breast feeding

Talk to your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or breast feeding or think you might be pregnant or planning to become pregnant
