What Is Zocon 150mg?

Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal that treats fungal infections like yeast infections in the mouth, throat, food pipe, lungs, vagina etc. It is effectively used in the treatment of meningitis which affects the membranes in the brain and spinal cord.

This is also preferred as a preventive medication in patients susceptible to fungal infections while undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy before bone marrow transplantation. Fluconazole works by decreasing the production of ergosterol, which inhibits cell membrane formation in fungi.

How Does Zocon 150mg Work?

This Tablet decreases ergosterol production by disrupting the activity of cytochrome P450, inhibiting the formation of the cell membrane of susceptible fungi like Candida and Micosporum.

What Is Route Of Administration?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. This Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Side Effects Of Zocon 150mg

Major

Headache

Diarrhea, nausea or upset stomach

Dizziness

Stomach pain

Changes in the way food tastes

Minor

Difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat, low blood pressure, fainting (severe allergic reactions)

Severe skin rash which may include peeling, blistering and lesions of the skin

Liver problems such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark coloured urine, pale stools

Changes in the heart rhythm

Severe tiredness or exhaustion, unusual bruising or an increase in the number of infections that you get (e.g. sore throats, mouth ulcers, flu-like symptoms including fever)

Do

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:-

Are allergic to Fluconazole or to any of the other contents of this medicine

Have had thrush more than twice in the last 6 months

Or your partner have been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease

Have liver disease, or have had unexplained jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)

Have heart or kidney problems

Have low levels of potassium, magnesium or calcium in your blood

Have any other long-term illness

Have pain on passing urine, abnormal discharge or leakage from penis (men)

Have lower stomach pain, or pain or a burning sensation on passing urine, any abnormal or irregular bleeding or blood-stained discharge (women).

Don’t

Alcohol = This is generally safe to consume alcohol with Zocon 150mg Tablet.

Pregnancy = This Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.

There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation = This Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving = Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

This Tablet may cause dizziness or seizures. This may affect your ability to drive.

Kidney = This Tablet is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.

Caution to be advised in patients with impaired renal function.
