What Is Larinate 100 Kit?
Larinate 100 Kit, a derivative of artemisinin is a water-soluble hemisuccinate. It is very effective in the treatment of severe malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum strains when other medicines fail to show positive results. However, it cannot be used to prevent malaria. This can be given by injection into a vein or a muscle, or taken by mouth.
How Does Larinate 100 Kit Work?
This is a combination of three medicines: Artesunate, Sulfadoxine and Pyrimethamine which treat malaria. Artesunate and Pyrimethamine are antiparasitic medicines which work by increasing the levels of haeme in the blood, a substance toxic to the malarial parasite. This kills the parasite and stops the infection from spreading. Sulfadoxine is an antibiotic which stops the bacteria from producing folic acid, a nutrient required for bacterial multiplication.
