Tretiva 30 mg Capsule belongs to a category of chemical compounds called retinoid. This medication helps in the treatment of cystic acne or nodular acne that has previously not responded to any other kind of treatment. It lowers the production of facial oil and prevents hardening of the skin. If acne is not properly treated it can cause permanent scarring.

Tretiva 30mg Capsule works by decreasing the amount of oil secreted by oil glands.

Uses of Tretiva 30mg

This medication is used to treat severe cystic acne (also known as nodular acne) that has not responded to other treatment (e.g., benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin applied to the skin or tetracycline or minocycline taken by mouth). It belongs to a class of drugs known as retinoids. It works by decreasing facial oil (sebum) production. High amounts of sebum can lead to severe acne. If left untreated, severe acne may cause permanent scarring.

How To Take Tretiva 30mg Capsule?

Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start using isotretinoin and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions about isotretinoin, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medication.

Swallow capsules whole. Do not crush or chew them. Isotretinoin is usually taken twice daily for 15-20 weeks, or as directed by your doctor. Directions for most generic forms of isotretinoin state that it should be taken with meals. However, the FDA has indicated that the Absorica brand may be taken with or without food. Food helps increase absorption of this drug into your bloodstream. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Take this drug with a full glass of water, and do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking it.

Take Tretiva 30 mg Capsule as instructed by the doctor. Follow all the directions mentioned on the label. Do not take in larger or smaller quantities than prescribed. This medicine should be taken with food. The symptoms might get worse in the initial phase of treatment.

Drug interaction of Tretiva 30mg

Tretiva Capsule may interact with the following drugs and products:

• Carbamazepine
• Resorcinol
• Retinol
• Sodium thiosulphate

Warnings for special population

Pregnancy :- Use of this medicine by women are pregnant or suspecting a pregnancy is not recommended. It is advised to take extra precautionary measures and avoid intended/unintended pregnancy while using this medicine.

Breast-feeding :-– Use of this medicine by women who are breastfeeding is not recommended. Your doctor may prescribe suitable alternatives after assessing your condition.

Exposure to sun :-  Use of this medicine can cause adverse reactions of the skin on sun exposure. You should either avoid stepping out at daytime or take appropriate precautionary measures.

Other skin creams :- This medicine may interact with other skin care or medicinal products. Consult your doctor before starting the use of other products along with this medicine.

Contraception :- Appropriate means of birth control should be adopted while using this medicine. It can cause oral/hormonal contraception failure and hence use of multiple contraception is advised. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect a pregnancy while using this medicine.

Donation of blood :-  It is advised to refrain from donating blood for 1 month after stopping the use of this medicine.

Depresseion:- Use of this medicine has been known to cause varying levels of depression in different people. Report any current/past incidences of depression, agitation, anxiety, or other psychotic disorders to the doctor.

Storage of Tretiva 30mg

Store medicines at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert. Keep medicines away from children and pets.
