How Does Aricep 5mg Work?

Memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease occurs due to disturbances of signal transmission in the brain. This Tablet is a cholinesterase inhibitor. It works by increasing the levels of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) involved in transmmission of nerve signals. This improves memory and thinking.

What Is Route Of Administration?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. This Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Drug To Drug Interaction

Carvedilol = This may lower the heart rate and blood pressure if taken together. Inform the doctor if you are receiving antihypertensives like carvedilol, metoprolol, and nifedipine. Any symptoms of dizziness, irregular heartbeat should be informed to the doctor.

Oxcarbazepine = Inform the doctor if you are receiving oxcarbazepine, carbamazepine as these medicines will decrease the effect of Tablet.

Tramadol = This may increase the risk of seizures if taken together. The risk is more in the elderly population with the history of head injury or seizures.

You have been prescribed Tablet to slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

It does not cure Alzheimer’s but may help with brain function and doing daily activities.

Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.

It may cause diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated while taking this Tablet.

Monitor your body weight regularly as both Tablet and Alzheimer’s disease can cause weight loss.

Inform your doctor if you develop muscle tremors, especially if you have Parkinson’s disease.

Don’t

Pregnancy = This is not recommended for pregnant women unless necessary. The risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding = It is not known whether Aricep 5mg is excreted in breast milk. It is not recommended in breastfeeding women unless necessary. The risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Driving = Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Alzheimer’s disease may impair your ability to drive unless your doctor tells you that it is safe to do so. Also, your medicine can cause tiredness, dizziness and muscle cramp.

Kidney = This Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of this Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver = This Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of this Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Storage Of Aricep 5mg
